FAQ.
CAN I USE YOURÂ SONG?
You're more than welcome to use my cover/original as long it is for non-profit. My music is set up with Content ID, so if you are using it for non-profit purposes you are more than welcome to use my work as long as you give credit (make sure to also credit those involved in the song - i.e. mixers, musicians)! If you can also post a link back to my channel or my video, that would be amazing!
CAN I REQUEST A SONG?
You sure can! While I can't promise I'll be able to get to each and every request, I do my best to at least put each one into consideration! If you have a request, tweet me  @dragonchaim or on YouTube (hint hint: I'm more likely to see it on Twitter).
WHAT MICROPHONE/ PROGRAMS DO YOU USE?
I currently use a Blue Yeti microphone and use FL Studio 12 Producer Edition for the creation of all of my music. I use Photoshop for my images and usually use the adobe video editor program to put everything together. If you're looking for a program to start recording with, I recommend Garage Band for beginners because it comes free with your computer if you own a mac. I used Audacity when I first started, which is also a free program. But, I saved up money to purchase FL Studio.
HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR MUSIC?
For trumpet, I just memorize how the song sounds like and play by ear. This is a skill anyone can learn if they are patient with it, I started doing this when I first started playing trumpet. But, there are times where I have to write out the music - i.e Megalovania. For Fl Studio, I currently try to copy what the original has, but once I have a good copy, I start dissecting it. Removing parts I did not like in the original or that I want more from. I also started a trend from my first video, Anohana, with adding something each time in the beginning to immediately make it different from the original, giving it my own fire.
ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE STARTING OUT?
Trumpet playing, audio engineering, Photoshop, Video editing -- The best thing you can do is practice. That's really what it all boils down to because there is no 'quick' way to improve when it comes to any of those, especially trumpet. If you're still in school, try taking a music or graphics design class. I recommend reaching out to your peers and asking for critiques. For me, I get comments ranging from praise, to some very strict but needed criticism, and then some that just need to go in a corner and not be read. But, don't let these get you down because as you make your music you will have a few golden-ones that motivate you and are the best examples of what you can do. When starting out on trumpet, you need to LISTEN to people like Tine Thing Helseth, Wyton Marsalis, Alison Balsom, Louis Armstrong, Maurice Andre, James Morrison, Wayne Bergeron, which who I recommend talking to if you ever have the chance. I got to meet him due to my teacher, Greg Wing, knowing him. Trumpet playing is a hard and life long journey of pain and happiness. I recommend getting with a trumpet player to take lessons with in person, especially if they are an Adam student http://everythingtrumpet.com/Bill-Adam/students/. This is how I learned! If you can, work in some practice hours for your daily schedule. Keep The Dream Alive! If it's something you truly love, keep at it.
